Day 6
FEEDBACK

Bottom Line? Personal, as well as organizational development comes from feedback.

You ever heard of CEOs disease?

CEO or Leader’s Disease infects a leader or an organization when the feedback to a leader or CEO is tailored closely to what the leader wants to hear rather than what they need and must hear from appropriate people through appropriate channels.

In personal development, you must engage at least a handful of people who:
1. Have a vested interest in your development.
2. Will tell the truth, no matter what!
3. Who will provide this feedback when you ask –> ask regularly.

Look at this drawing of how collaboration and unconditional acceptance gains DENSITY and FREQUENCY in our leadership relationships.

Feedback

The dynamic I’m teaching here came from an idea Dr. Albert Ellis gave me at a visit to his place on the upper west side in New York…he said the only two things needed for okness: unconditional acceptance of yourself and others.

Feedback as a loop is critical to feed SELF-KNOWLEDGE and SELF-AWARENESS.

TRIGGERED AWARENESS

For triggering feedback, you may need to receive “real-time feedback” in the way of simple gestures from someone who can pickup social cues when you can’t!

Invest in feedback regularly,

Mike R Jay, Developmentalist
